About

The odd name for this website deserves an explanation. It is actually a combination of 2 diverse sports, sportscar racing and senior softball. The sportscar path will take you to many photos from road racing tracks of the northeast, as well as local car shows. Senior softball photos are mostly from games played in the Mid Hudson Valley. The 27 softball folders are titled by year. The 50 auto folders are also titled by year, and other descriptive names.

Photos from 1963 thru 2023: F1 races from Watkins Glen, Mosport, and Mt Tremblant, CanAm & TransAm races, Sportscar racing from Lime Rock, Thompson, Bridgehampton, Bryer, old cars from car shows in the Hudson Valley. There are approximately 6800 total shots from these events. Early pics used analog cameras up until mid 2007, then digital thereafter.

Senior softball photos(approx 2500) were shot from 1998 to 2023, all from games played at ballfields in Fishkill, Poughkeepsie, NY, and Cape Cod senior tournaments.

Two diverse topics featured but there is one commonality: they both have a Start-Finish line or home plate. In auto racing the objective is to race as fast as you can to get back to the Starting Line, which has just been renamed the Finish Line. In softball, one starts at home plate and endeavors to return there, via short stops at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd bases.

Hope you enjoy one of these photo trails.

During my 1st employment after HS & some college, I met 2 co-workers who were amateur sports car racers. A trip to Lime Rock to watch them race, in 1961 or 1962, hooked me into a lifetime of spectating at sportscar, F1, and CanAm events. Upon my retirement, the Skip Barber Racing School beckoned, where I spent 4 days learning & lapping at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen. This was a major thrill of my lifetime, however I never did race competitively.

Senior softball also began at age 58 and ended after 24 years in 2022.  Every day on the ballfield was a bonus day. It was a privilege to meet so many great players, teammates, and friends. Sometimes I felt I was just in an audience watching great athletes perform. The sense of humor many possessed was also a large part of each contest. I hope some of my teammates and their families can refresh a memory or 2 from some of the games and player photos.
